Sacramento Council of Governments Partnership Project

Sacramento, California, Partnership Project study areaThe National Map implementation for the Sacramento urban area, which was officially made public in February 2004, focuses on the urban-area footprint as defined for homeland security interests, but will expand over time to contain the full six-county area within the Sacramento Council of Governments' (SACOG) purview. A MOU was signed by both the USGS and SACOG in October 2003 to establish a long-term partnership for integrating and sharing data easily and consistently. The MOU supports existing relationships crucial to building framework data layers and facilitates additional partnerships needed to expand the footprint and build higher resolution datasets. The MOU also provides a foundation for defining goals, timelines, roles, and responsibilities for the building and continued health of The National Map over the SACOG area of influence..
